A SNOWDONIA WEDDING
THE VOLUME OF RAIN WHILST DRIVING to this incredible Snowdonia wedding was such that I was starting to have doubts of arriving even though the heart of Snowdonia is just 90 minutes from my home in Chester. We started out the day at the very cosy and equally hard to find Snowdon Lodge in Beddgelert. The light was flat and the sky a moody grey but at least the rain had subsided for a short while. After braving leaving the lodge for the comfort of a vintage Roller Beth and the girls made their way to a church in Nant Peris. The pub is actually situated right next door to a lovely pub called The Vaynol Arms should you ever be passing or heading to a Snowdonia wedding!
PEN-Y-PASS
After the ceremony we zoomed the Roller up the steep incline to the Pen-y-Pass mountain pass car park. Swapping her heels for hiking boots Beth and Pete and headed out on the Pyg track much to the amusement of the passing hikers who stopped to take photographs and offer warm words of congratulations to the newly weds. Blessed as we were the rain had stopped once more and we were in swathes of fog that ebbed and flowed over us as we made our short descent along the path to a suitable spot overlooking the valley. All we required was the fog to clear long enough to get a shot down the valley.
CAER RHUN HALL
30 minutes drive from Pen-y-Pass nestled in the heart of the Conwy Valley is the enchanting Caer Rhun Hall where the reception meal and dancing took place with the magnificent ceilidh Wee Bag Band playing long into the night. Much gratitude and love to Pete and Beth for having us along on such a special day in incredible locations and for braving the conditions out onthe mountain pass. For a North Wales wedding photographer this was truly one of the highlights of the year.
