Rock n Roll Wedding at Mapperley Farm
The Great Rock ‘n’ Roll Wedding of Pete and Jess
It was an absolute bloody rarity and a complete pleasure to witness and document an actual real live rock n roll wedding at Mapperley Farm in Derbyshire back in September. After a relaxing morning in the Farm house an eclectic mix of friends and family began to arrive for the legal ceremony in the barn. A short walk to the delightful deciduous woods which are part of Mapperley Farm saw a Pagan ceremony with Druidry, handfasting and broom jumping. Then it’s back to the tipi for a most delicious vegan meal before the Rock ‘n’ Roll starts up.
Elvis is Alive.
A superb, authentic and energetic set was delivered by the man himself, Mr Elvis Presley AKA Jason Dale. Believe me this guy even sweats the same authentic amount, I was really afraid he would be carried off stage at one point 😉 Even the power outages could not stop him.
Punk is Not Dead.
80’s punk band Riot Squad reformed and were standing by to deliver a killer energetic couple of sets to those that dared venture onto the tipi dance floor, the tipi canvas allowing all of Mapperley to tap their feet and sing along 😀
Finally, Jess and Pete, passionate about all things rock ‘n’ roll, environmental, animal welfare, vegan food, their dogs and most clearly each other. Here’s how their wedding felt from my perspective..
